Mary’s Acholi name, “Daker,” means queen.  She was given this name because she is the only daughter.  She has three older brothers and two younger brothers.  Mary lives with her mother, and her younger, twin brothers.  Her mother, Jennifer, recently relocated to Gulu in Northern Uganda and has separated from her husband.  Jennifer works as a tailor to support her children. 

Mary’s best subjects are English and math.  She enjoys playing netball with her friends and hopes to become a doctor.
