In Acholi, the name “aber” means something which is good.  This name is quite appropriate for Deborah who hopes to become a lawyer so she can help those who cannot help themselves and make sure everyone is treated fairly.  At just a month old, her father abandoned the family and left her mother to care for her and her 7 siblings.  There is never enough money for even the basic needs for the entire family.  Despite this hardship, Deborah perseveres.  Her favorite subjects are math and English.  She enjoys playing netball with her friends and participating in traditional Acholi dance.
