A rising star in her family, Atim Cecilia is striving to be the first in her family to go to college. Her mother’s education came to an abrupt stop in primary four when her father died and the family could no longer afford school fees.  Similarly, Cecilia’s father died when she was just seven years old.  But her mother has persevered.  She has paved the way to her daughter’s education by crafting paper bead jewelry.

Cecilia hopes to pursue a degree in nursing.  “Growing up, l discovered that in our villages people have difficulties in accessing medical attention,” Cecilia reflects. “l hope to build a clinic in my village to help treat people so they will not have to move long distances to seek medical care.”
